Canser

Uterine Cancer- Cancer of The UterusUterine cancer is also known as endometrial cancer and the cancer of the uterus. Scientists and researchers all over the world are trying to find out the causes of this ailment and the ways and means of preventing it. This is not infectious even though the reason or reasons for some people being stricken with it and others not, are unknown. It is noteworthy to mention that results are available to prove that women who contract this disease have more risk factors than those who don’t. It is ironic that some women who contract this disease have no such risk factors whereas still others, who have these factors, do not get the disease. The uterus, commonly known as womb, is the muscular organ in a woman where a fetus grows when she is pregnant. It is a very important reproductive organ in a woman’s body. Although there are other types of cancer in the uterus, the most common one is that grows in the lining of the uterus called uterine cancer or endometrial cancer. This is commonly found in those who are over 50 and who have begun menopause. There are several symptoms connected with this ailment. Abnormal bleeding or discharge from the uterus is the most common symptom connected with uterine cancer. Whatever flow of blood or discharge from the womb after the onset of the menopause is deemed to be not normal. Difficulty and trouble in urinating is another. Pelvic pain and pain during intercourse are another two symptoms of possible uterine cancer. It is sagacious that those who have these pains should see a medical doctor immediately. However, there is a possibility of these signs originating from some harmless conditions. Only a doctor can confirm it. However, the disease is capable of progressing without showing any of these symptoms. Pelvic pain or pressure may be the precursor if this happens.Women with case histories of diabetes, hypertension, and erratic periods, and those who have family histories of ovarian or breast cancer and those who have been barren are linked with contracting uterine cancer. It is also considered to be hormone-related, often to estrogen. Despite all this, as soon as you find it out that you have cause for fear of uterine cancer, make a beeline to the doctor’s.
Probiotics - The Beneficial Flora Utterly Necessary For Superlative HealthThe first thing you may be wondering is what exactly are probiotics?. Inside your intestinal tract are trillions of microorganisms. These probiotics live inside your intestines and come with an astounding job. In simple terms, these microscopic bacteria are the heroes of our bodies. They keep the bad bacteria at bay.In order to be classified as probiotics they must be able to sabatoge the bad bacterias attempts at overwhelming our bodies, and basically turn the disease-causing pathogenic bacteria into harmless bacteria. We truly need to understand their needs so that they can keep up with the unrelenting growth of dreadful bacteria growing inside our body. This is no easy task keeping our friendly bacteria healthy and multiplying faster than the bad bacteria. In todays world full of junk food, hormone induced and highly processed foods as well as the nutritionally depleted soil that our fruits and vegetables are grown in, it’s becoming quite burdonsome for our intestinal tract to maintain an environment that helps our bad bacterial fighting buddies grow faster than those nasty ones. It’s time to uncover how we can make sure our bodies are flourishing in healthy probiotic bacteria? First, let’s consider some of the jobs that they can perform when they are flourishing inside us.Healthy bacteria will filter out and get rid of those damaging substances like those bad bacteria. They help to flush out toxins and chemicals. Some of which are caused by bad bacteria. They also help eliminate other waste products and prevent these same products from being absorbed into our blood stream where they can reek even more deadly damage on our other vital organs. In addition to those things, a healthy intestinal tract, complements of our healthy flora, will absorb and distribute essential ingredients, that are sent down into our intestines via food and water. All these things are absorbed and then distributed into our cells that need them.Today, there are human studies being conducted to see how much probiotics can help in the prevention of cancer. Just think of the difference it would make when something like breast cancer symptoms could be handled with probiotic treatments instead of radiation or chemotherapy. Now that you’re interest is piqued. You may be thrilled to know that introducing probiotics into your body can be as simple as buying yogurt that contains active live cultures. You may even have heard about Lactobacillus bulgaricus. This is one of the many wonderful probiotic bacteria that make up the healthy flora and fauna inside our intestinal tract. And there are a nice number of varieties found in many of todays yogurt brands.Another way to help our intestinal tract is by way of exercise. Even something like the gentle stretching as in the Supreme Pilate’s type movements will help our digestive tract in pushing out toxins and waste and this of course aids in and lessons the burdens placed on the good microorganisms whos job is to also get rid of toxic waste build up.Knowing all this, isn’t it time to learn more probiotics so that you can help them flourish inside your body to keep you running at optimum health? You can also keep coming back here to learn more about the wonderful benefits of probiotics.

Collecting Coins as a Hobby

Tagged Under :
Have you found yourself curious about the hobby of collecting coins, but think it’s too difficult to get started? We all have easy access to coins and know what they are, but have you ever thought of them as more than just the means to purchasing your next cup of coffee? The coins that we may accumulate during the day seem to have little value since all we do with them is just accumulate them in one location until we run out of space. We only notice our coins when there is no more room and we need to do something with what we have currently amassed. Coins have value to others as more than just what they can buy. The hobby of collecting coinshas grown quite popular over the years and is one of the few hobbies accessible to the young and old alike. Now you may be thinking that the hobby of collecting coins hasn’t been around for too long. Maybe it’s something you remember your parents or grandparents doing when you were younger. The hobby of coin collecting can be found to date back as far as the 14th century. As a hobby that spans the ages, it can be inexpensive and easy to start. Just do some research and combined that with your interests you will soon fine a genre that you love and want to own.Collecting coins is easy and one of the cheapest hobbies to start. You probably have some coins on you, or collecting dust in that jar on your dresser. Just think of an interest that you adore with some research you will find the coins that you have always dreamed of and thinking why hadn’t someone introduced you to the hobby of collecting coins earlier.

Food & Drink

Why Use The Bottled Drinking Water CompanyNow that more and more people are starting to take notice in their health, there is an increase in profit for the bottled drinking water company. There is no confusion on it, that company making bottled drinking water is making a lot of money off of something very natural such as water. But the question that is on the minds of everyone is whether or not it is really a safe drinking water bottle because of the chemicals within the plastic. Some people say there is nothing to worry about while others claim that the bottled drinking water company knows that the water is contaminated. As of right now though, there is no hard evidence that the bottled drinking water company is aware of any true problems with drinking their water on a regular basis. But a person does have to wonder just where exactly are these companies getting their water and is it really any better then the water you would get through a filtered tap? There are a lot of products on the market for filters that attach to the faucet in the kitchen and they may do just as good if not better then the bottled drinking water company. What You Can DoIf you want to be the judge for yourself and see if the bottled drinking water company that you are using regularly is better then the water you can get from your faucet, there are things you can do. There are kits out there on the market that can help you test not only your tap water, but also the water from the bottled drinking water company. You can take those two tests and compare to see how much better the water from the bottled drinking water company is for you and your overall health. After, if you get a filter attachment for your home test and sink the water, after then you can test it against the water from the bottled drinking water company. At last moment, you may be surprised to know that which of the waters is safer and better for you in drinking purpose. You may find that you can save yourself a lot of money filtering your own water instead of paying the bottled drinking water company for water that you could have gotten yourself. Do the tests and make a decision for yourself and in the end you will be much better off health wise and pocket book wise.
Learning About the Wine Making ProcessThe fruit wine making process is one which is quite complex but which can be understood rather easily, if you are willing.Once you have all the equipment and a recipe book, you can begin your venture to making the best wine you have ever tasted. Home wine making allows you to try different flavor juices or fruits. You will find there are many different types of wines that you can make with a home wine making venture. In cases of grape wine, this is made from pure grape juice. But for other fruit wines, additional water is needed to dilute the juice prior to the winemaking procedure. This is mainly because of the intense flavor. Secondly, some of the fruits may be high in their acidic property, which in turn makes the wine too sharp in taste if used full strength. Examples include gooseberry and blueberry juices. So for a basic idea, you should prepare your wine with 22 pounds of pears, 16 pounds of strawberries, 14 pounds of pineapples, 15 pounds of peaches, 18 pounds of watermelon or 15 pounds of blackberries. These are measures for yielding five gallons of wine. However, these are the simple instructions for wine making; in fact, there is no single accurate measure for the quantity of the fruit to be used in wine making process. You make have heard of people who like a specific fruit mixed with another fruit, well this might just make a great wine as well. If you like a can of fruit cocktail, you might try making a fruit cocktail wine. There are some people that mix fruits and the wine is to die for. It has a taste you cannot find with any other wine around. Home wine making opens up new avenues for wine enthusiasts. If you like wine, you will love experimenting with new tastes.Proper amount of acidity is a crucial factor for wine preparation. No instructions for wine making seem to be complete without the discussion of acidity and its significance in wine preparation. Acidity is important mainly because of two reasons. It is essential to improve the character and balance of the wine produced in general and to enhance the fermentation process. Acidity largely varies between different fruits. There are essentially two ways to test acidity in a fruit juice. One is with pH testing strips and the other one is doing a titration. The former is not a very accurate way to measure acidity level; however, the later is useful to offer a better result.

The Next Mobile Of Choice

I am one of many people who are coming up to being able tochange in their old mobile phones and bask in the greatness of something new and interesting (until we grow bored once again). My question is, how on earth am i going to chose what to get?6 month ago this would have been a nice easy choice for me, i would be jumping ship from my current provider and heading straight for the nearest Apple shop to bag me an iPhone. But the mobile landscape has change alot in such a short period of time and now there are a number of cool little phones on the market that do pretty much everything that the iPhone does, with some even doing it better. The current line up we have to choose from if you want a touch screen smart phone is pretty much as follows, The LG Cookie, The Samsung Tocco lite, The Nokia N97, the HTC Magic and finally the king of the castle the iPhone 3gs. Now, i haven’t heard much about the new LG and Samsung, so i cannot comment on them too much, but u current own the last atempt at a touch screen smart phone from LG (the viewty) and after 13 months all i can say is NEVER AGAIN! The phone itself isn’t too bad, its a bit slow, the touch screen isn’t great and i have managed to make two hairline crachs in the screen by just carrying it in my pocket. But the worst thing about the phone by far isn’t acually on the phone, its the software you HAVE to use to get anything off the phone. The software is completely unusable, removing a magor advantage of having such a good video recorder on the phone.Anyway, because i have been having trouble chosing my next phone, i have been thinking that maybe, just maybe i don’t need an all singing, all dancing smart phone and i can go back to basics with a crapy phone that is just a phone, but comes with a new laptop or something. I have seen these kind of offers in the window of a number of different phone shops on the highstreet, so i searches for one online to see what i would need to spend and what i could get, but it would seem that most of the offers of ‘free laptops’ are only if you take out mobile broadband these days. Back to the rawing board i guess. So now ‘m back to square one. I really like the way that iPhone works, but its just so expensive compared to all of the rest. The next best i think is the Nokia N97. I have seen some demos online and all seems very nice indeed and the thought of not having to use a touch screen qwerty keyword for text messages seems nice, but i am not sure how powerful it is compared to the iPhone 3GS, and it just doesn’t seem as user friendly. What i do like is the HTC Google andriod phones, but i would like to wait until the new HTC hero is out before buying one, as the Magic is getting a little old now and i think the open source andriod OS will benefit from a more powerful piece of hard for people to continue the programing of new applications. All in all i think i’m stuck and will probably end up seeing what my service provider can offer me for free when the time comes to change. If anyone reading this has any advice i would love to hear it.

Is high speed Broadband on it’s way?

Broadband has had a massive impact on the way we work and play. As more of us begin to spend more time online the days before the Internet seem distant and old fashioned. Being connected is something we take for granted, like having access to hot water, something you don’t notice until it’s gone.As new technologies age they tend to become faster smaller and cheaper. Computers are definitely cheaper and smaller than they used to be (I’m typing this on a nice quick laptop) and they are also cheaper. This process has also taken place for the internet (although smaller doesn’t really fit) but we seem to have reached a limit to the increases in speed. The main factor in limiting broadband speed is the hardware involved. In practice this means the phone lines most of use for our connection. Obvously some people use Wifi and Mobile Broadband and these are also due to increase in speed. The next step towards quicker Broadband is a faster phone line. Although the copper wires use are good enough forlandlines they were not built to carry so much information. Fibre Optic cables would allow us to watch movies in high definition via the Internet and would also be of great benefit to business users.

Breathing

Straining my eyes to see through the pouring rain

In a metal box hurtling down the freeway at 75, but not 80
Crooked shirts and shoulders
Mix tapes in french
The warmth of his body next to mine
Sweet scissors stabbing at my sanity
That intoxicating scent spreads my heart so thin

The difference between a fluorescent light and a neon light

A neon light is the sort of light you see used in advertising signs. These signs are made of long, narrow glass tubes, and these tubes are often bent into all sorts of shapes. The tube of a neon light can spell out a word, for example. These tubes emit light in different colors.A fluorescent light, on the other hand, is most often a long, straight tube that produces white light. You see fluorescent lights in offices, stores and some home fixtures. The idea behind a neon light is simple. Inside the glass tube there is a gas like neon, argon or krypton at low pressure. At both ends of the tube there are metal electrodes. When you apply a high voltage to the electrodes, the neon gas ionizes, and electrons flow through the gas. These electrons excite the neon atoms and cause them to emit light that we can see. Neon emits red light when energized in this way. Other gases emit other colors.A fluorescent light works on a similar idea but it has an extra step. Inside a fluorescent light is low-pressure mercury vapor. When ionized, mercury vapor emits ultraviolet light. Human eyes are not sensitive to ultraviolet light (although human skin is -- see How Sunburns and Sun Tans Work!). Therefore, the inside of a fluorescent light is coated with a phosphor. A phosphor is a substance that can accept energy in one form (for example, energy from a high-speed electron as in a TV tube -- see How Television Works) and emit the energy in the form of visible light. In a fluorescent lamp, the phosphor accepts the energy of ultraviolet photons and emits visible photons. The light we see from a fluorescent tube is the light given off by the phosphor that coats the inside of the tube (the phosphor fluoresces when energized, hence the name). The light of a neon tube is the colored light that the neon atoms give off directly.

Microelectronics

Microelectronics is a subfield of electronics. Microelectronics, as the name suggests, is related to the study and manufacture of electronic components which are very small. These devices are made from semiconductors using a process known as photolithography. Many components of normal electronic design are available in microelectronic equivalent: transistors, capacitors, inductors, resistors, diodes and of course insulators and conductors can all be found in microelectronic devices.Digital integrated circuits consist mostly of transistors. Analog circuits commonly contain resistors and capacitors as well. Inductors are used in some high frequency analog circuits, but tend to occupy large chip area if used at low frequencies; gyrators can replace them.As techniques improve, the size of microelectronic components continue to decrease. At smaller scales, the effects of minor circuit elements such as interconnections may become more important. These are called parasitic effects, and the goal of the microelectronics design engineer is to find ways to compensate for or to minimize these effects, while always delivering smaller, faster, and cheaper devices.

Flash Memory

Electronic memory comes in a variety of forms to serve a variety of purposes. Flash memory is used for easy and fast information storage in such devices as digital cameras and home video game consoles. It is used more as a hard drive than as RAM. In fact, Flash memory is considered a solid state storage device. Solid state means that there are no moving parts -- everything is electronic instead of mechanical. Here are a few examples of Flash memory:
Your computer's BIOS chip CompactFlash (most often found in digital cameras)
SmartMedia (most often found in digital cameras) Memory Stick (most often found in digital cameras)
PCMCIA Type I and Type II memory cards (used as solid-state disks in laptops)
Memory cards for video game consoles
In this article, we'll find out how Flash memory works and look at some of the forms it takes and types of devices that use it.Flash Memory Basics We discussed the underlying technology of Flash memory in How ROM Works, but here's a quick review:Flash memory is a type of EEPROM chip. It has a grid of columns and rows with a cell that has two transistors at each intersection (see image below). The two transistors are separated from each other by a thin oxide layer. One of the transistors is known as a floating gate, and the other one is the control gate. The floating gate's only link to the row, or wordline, is through the control gate. As long as this link is in place, the cell has a value of 1. To change the value to a 0 requires a curious process called Fowler-Nordheim tunneling.

How Can a Diode Produce Light?

Light is a form of energy that can be released by an atom. It is made up of many small particle-like packets that have energy and momentum but no mass. These particles, called photons, are the most basic units of light.
Photons are released as a result of moving electrons. In an atom, electrons move in orbitals around the nucleus. Electrons in different orbitals have different amounts of energy. Generally speaking, electrons with greater energy move in orbitals farther away from the nucleus. For an electron to jump from a lower orbital to a higher orbital, something has to boost its energy level. Conversely, an electron releases energy when it drops from a higher orbital to a lower one. This energy is released in the form of a photon. A greater energy drop releases a higher-energy photon, which is characterized by a higher frequency. (Check out How Light Works for a full explanation.)
As we saw in the last section, free electrons moving across a diode can fall into empty holes from the P-type layer. This involves a drop from the conduction band to a lower orbital, so the electrons release energy in the form of photons. This happens in any diode, but you can only see the photons when the diode is composed of certain material. The atoms in a standard silicon diode, for example, are arranged in such a way that the electron drops a relatively short distance. As a result, the photon's frequency is so low that it is invisible to the human eye -- it is in the infrared portion of the light spectrum. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, of course: Infrared LEDs are ideal for remote controls, among other things.
Visible light-emitting diodes (VLEDs), such as the ones that light up numbers in a digital clock, are made of materials characterized by a wider gap between the conduction band and the lower orbitals. The size of the gap determines the frequency of the photon -- in other words, it determines the color of the light. While all diodes release light, most don't do it very effectively. In an ordinary diode, the semiconductor material itself ends up absorbing a lot of the light energy. LEDs are specially constructed to release a large number of photons outward. Additionally, they are housed in a plastic bulb that concentrates the light in a particular direction. As you can see in the diagram, most of the light from the diode bounces off the sides of the bulb, traveling on through the rounded end.

LEDs have several advantages over conventional incandescent lamps. For one thing, they don't have a filament that will burn out, so they last much longer. Additionally, their small plastic bulb makes them a lot more durable. They also fit more easily into modern electronic circuits.
But the main advantage is efficiency. In conventional incandescent bulbs, the light-production process involves generating a lot of heat (the filament must be warmed). This is completely wasted energy, unless you're using the lamp as a heater, because a huge portion of the available electricity isn't going toward producing visible light. LEDs generate very little heat, relatively speaking. A much higher percentage of the electrical power is going directly to generating light, which cuts down on the electricity demands considerably.Up until recently, LEDs were too expensive to use for most lighting applications because they're built around advanced semiconductor material. The price of semiconductor devices has plummeted over the past decade, however, making LEDs a more cost-effective lighting option for a wide range of situations. While they may be more expensive than incandescent lights up front, their lower cost in the long run can make them a better buy. In the future, they will play an even bigger role in the world of technology.

Overview of electronic systems and circuits

Electronic systems are used to perform a wide variety of tasks. The main uses of electronic circuits are:The controlling and processing of data. The conversion to/from and distribution of electric power. Both these applications involve the creation and/or detection of electromagnetic fields and electric currents. While electrical energy had been used for some time prior to the late 19th century to transmit data over telegraph and telephone lines, development in electronics grew exponentially after the advent of radio. One way of looking at an electronic system is to divide it into 3 parts:Inputs – Electronic or mechanical sensors (or transducers). These devices take signals/information from external sources in the physical world (such as antennas or technology networks) and convert those signals/information into current/voltage or digital (high/low) signals within the system. Signal processors – These circuits serve to manipulate, interpret and transform inputted signals in order to make them useful for a desired application. Recently, complex signal processing has been accomplished with the use of Digital Signal Processors. Outputs – Actuators or other devices (such as transducers) that transform current/voltage signals back into useful physical form (e.g., by accomplishing a physical task such as rotating an electric motor). For example, a television set contains these 3 parts. The television's input transforms a broadcast signal (received by an antenna or fed in through a cable) into a current/voltage signal that can be used by the device. Signal processing circuits inside the television extract information from this signal that dictates brightness, colour and sound level. Output devices then convert this information back into physical form. A cathode ray tube transforms electronic signals into a visible image on the screen. Magnet-driven speakers convert signals into audible sound.
